Past students, past teachers, past volunteers, are you out there? Let us hear from you and update us on yourself.... We love you and want to hear how you're doing, what you've been up to, where you're going? All the good stuff ....

Hi I am Corliss. I came in contact with Mosaic(once known as CWJC) August of 2011. When I first came to this area I was on TANF, Foodstamps,Medicaid and we were new to the community. We came from San Marcos where I was a full time Kennel Tech to take care of my fiance' elderly aunt and mother. I was not able to find work right away so had to become dependent on government assistance and with that came the responsibility of doing work searches, training and community service. I was going to one of my weekly check-ins and Julie Minter was there passing out flyers for the Fall 2011 classes. They offered classes in computers.office software, typing, budgeting and other job and communication skills, but I also needed to fulfill community service hours as well so I called Julie and she allowed me to do my community service by helping get the classroom set up and organized for the classes. In September classes started and I was a participant as well as a volunteer/the classes were great, and very informative. After classes were over I continued to volunteer occasionally but sporadically as i needed to find work. Julie went to the board and asked them to help me pay for a class in a field that is not so well known or even liked which is the animal control field. The board and Julie approved a grant for me to go to Katy, Texas to obtain my Basic Animal Control Certificate. After a year of applying for work in this field I finally obtained a job in the animal control field as a kennel worker for the City of League City making $ 11.16 an hour. I now also have a euthanasia certificate and working my way into an animal control officer position. I love my job I am about to complete my 4th month with the city..On my 6th Month anniversary I will be going to Giddings,Texas for my advanced animal control officer certificate. I just got back from a TFACS( Texas Federation of Animal Care Societies) conference(one of the many perks of my profession). Having this Certificate has opened so many doors for me thanks to Julie and Mosaic
